OCD/Daiso/Nightmarket/Food/Camwhore/Skincare

 .:.OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE BEHAVIORS.:.

I have OCD. I like to do everything at least 3 times.
And the symptoms have become more pronounced
since the day we got our cat, Miu Miu...

1. I check the stove at least 3 times before I leave the house,
because I’m afraid Miu Miu would walk on it and catch on fire.

2. I check to see if my balcony doors are firmly closed at least 3 times
by yanking violently at the knobs before I leave the house,
because I’m afraid
Miu Miu would jump off the balcony
or somebody would climb into my house.
(I live in a high rise building.)

3. I check to see where
Miu Miu is before I leave the house at least 3 times,
and this is something that really annoys my boyfriend,
because even I do not know why I do it.
Subconsciously though, I know I’m afraid
Miu Miu would vanish on his own.

4. I check to see if I’ve turned off the fireplace
at least 3 times before I leave the house,
for I’m afraid it would explode and burn the life out of
little Miu Miu.

5. I check to see if the bathroom doors are closed at night
before I go to bed at least 3 times,
just in case
Miu Miu drowns himself in toilet water
or drinks too much of it.
(He does that during the day when I’m not careful.)

6. I lock and unlock my phone all the time.

7. I brush my hair way too often.

8. I check to see if my phone, wallet and keys are in my bag way too much…
maybe around 10 times per day.

9. I drink too much water at home
and I still never think that I’ve had enough of it.
When I’m at home, I can easily drink 4 litres of water (that’s 16 cups of water).
My dad bought me a 1.5L water jar half a year ago and it’s not helping me at all.
In fact, I’m drinking water right now.

10. I log onto Facebook numerous times per day,
but I’m sure I’m not the only one who has this problem.

12. Three is the number.
I like multiples of three.
The number 3 makes me feel whole.
3, is a habit, an obsession, and NOT a superstition.
I'm not sure if it should be considered as an OCD behavior though.
But yeah, I like the number 3.
For example, when I buy a bottle of shampoo,
I'd always pick the THIRD one from the front...

11. For years, I’ve had the very same thoughts in my mind day in and day out.

Don’t worry folks… I’m not crazy. I’m just a little weird!

Random Day with Random Activities

went to Daiso at Aberdeen Centre to look at all those tempting $2 stuff

I love cat fish because they have whiskers! They are so ugly that they are cute.

the so-called "transparent" mask
could be a good Halloween prop, but I personally wouldn't put that on my face in a million years.

That is extremely frightening.

weird wigs...

cute oinkoinks

was super tempted to bring one of those home

My boyfriend and I went to the Richmond Summer Nightmarket for food after watching "Bruno" - tasteless humor, but still hilarious!

Richmond Summer Nightmarket
It is opened every weekend through mid-May to October. Since Vancouver lacks a nightlife, many people go there every weekend to enjoy the nice weather, purchase little imported Asian goods, and eat overpriced Asian food. I am definitely one of those people.

First thing after getting there - LOOK FOR FOOD. Duh.

our pork meat siu mai

Chocolate cream waffles

Twister Potato

It was my first time trying that! I got the ketchup one and it tasted delicious.

mmmmmmmmmMMmmmMmmmm

Taiwanese chicken nuggets

Grilled squidy squid
A-MUST-EAT every single time

still excited after eating that ten billion times

Terimayo Japadog
different and worse than the real Japadog from Downtown, but still not bad.

This guy who sells egg waffles came from Macau! My dad actually knows him...

thirsty after eating so much greasy food...

...so we got drinks from this Bubble tea place
I got a hot honey milk tea and my boyfriend got a mango slush

time to go home after a long, fun day

WARNING: LOTS OF CAMWHORE PHOTOS AHEAD
DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU'RE ANNOYED BY MY FACE.

"If you really put a small value upon yourself, rest assured that the world will not raise your price." ~Unknown

SKINCARE

Many people have asked me how I manage to keep my complexion looking so clear and smooth. To be honest, my skin IS NOT as flawless as it looks - I really just know how to conceal my blemishes well. Even though I would not say that the quality of my skin is bad, but it is definitely nowhere near perfect. Actually, my skin is one of the things that I dislike most about myself! It is super sensitive and I am allergic to many things, such as chlorine, cheap metal and the SUN. It is very difficult for me to tan evenly because I get rashes if I am under the sun for too long (no matter how much sunscreen I apply)!

If you guys are still wondering what I do for my skin, all I can really tell you is that I am not a skincare guru and I don't actually do much to my face. My daily routine includes a thorough removal of my makeup using Lancome's makeup removing oil, then cleaning my face with a drugstore brand cleanser (that's right, nothing too fancy or with too much scent because my skin is uber sensitive) and cold water, then shower, and then applying a moisturizer. I use a face scrub once every 2 days and a hydrating face mask about once every half month, as well as make sure that I put a moisturizing lotion that has SPF on before I go out during the day, and that's about it. I don't get facials done at a professional salon, I don't go to spas, and I don't tan. Through personal experience though, I have learned that my skin is in the BEST condition when I do not pay much attention to it. I remember that one time I went back to Macau/Hong Kong with my boyfriend and my skin had NEVER looked better because I barely had any time to care for it. I realized that when I have plenty of time on my hands, I tend to examine every single pore and try to get things out that are not visible to anyone but myself, which often gives me red spots that weren't even there to begin with! So my only advice to all of you is... DO NOT TOUCH YOUR SKIN (I really believe in the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"). Just make sure that you drink at least 8 glasses of water daily, eat lots of vegetables and fruits and get enough exercise, because I believe that having good skin has a lot to do with keeping your insides clean and healthy. When you get blackheads/pimples, try your best not to poke or squeeze at it, as it usually heals much faster if you just leave them alone!

DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY SECRETS THAT YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT SKINCARE?

LOL That's nice to know. I thought I was really weird for doing that. I think the reason why I do it is because I always subconsciously think that it is unlocked... so I keep going back and forth.

@mskimhoang -

I know sometimes you just can't help it eh? I try sooooo hard not to touch my skin. I always regret after if I do.

Cats are very secretive & sneaky, so I dont think you're paranoid, just a responsible pet parent! And yes...we're all sucked into Facebook. LMAO.

Those $2 stores wigs are funny. Most of them have my previous haircolors! I think dollar stores dont get enough credit. They basically sell alot of the same things, only cheaper. And viva la drugstores! They all make the same ingredients for facial cleaners & stuff, albeit maybe at a lower concentration but they work just as good, if not better. I use Aveeno.

By the way, dont think me stupid but what is Siu Mai? They look like dumplings to me. Yummy too. I LOVE dumplings. Target sells them in a display now. I wanted to kiss the store manager because they can be expensive in restaurants but now I can make them at home!

I sort of have the same weird habits, but I don't do it over and over, like you. You sound more paranoid than OCD ;) Also, when I read that you drank so much water a day, my first thought was, "wow, she must go to the bathroom a lot." HAHAHAA. I drank a big jug of water today and I had to pee constantly!

I'm on Facebook way too often. People probably think I don't have a life! (and they'd be somewhat correct!)

Siu Mai is a Chinese dumpling that is served in Dim Sum! I'm sure you'll like it if you like dumplings. They usually put shrimp and pork meat inside. They are so delicious when served hot!

@cbr600 -

Oh for sure! Sometimes I would go home JUST to check if I have locked it properly. I don't know how I can drink so much water either... It's a habit and my body has gotten used to it.

@j_e_n -

Haha you're right. I'm paranoid beyond words. Actually I don't pee thaaat much considering the amount of water I drink. I think my body has gotten used it. I get so incredibly thirsty when I don't drink "enough", i.e. when I drink less than 2-3 HUGE jugs of water in a day. I know it's bad for me and I'm trying to drink less now...

I'm super paranoid too. Like to the point where it's not healthy. I have to check doors and such too, and I always lock my car as soon as I get into it and I have to check to see if I have my phone and keys and blahblah.

I'm not sure if you already did this (and i actually think you did) but you should write an in depth blog about how you keep in shape after eating sooooo much delicious food.

also it seems like you go out ALL the time! do you work? if so what do you do? you should sell your photographs if you can =P they're amazing :)

haha. i got caught one time taking pictures at daiso once (by the sales lady) -- they have some weird no picture policy. Oh, and I saw tons of those twister chips in Korea! Never knew they had it at night market. Night Market only good for food, the rest is so mehhh. :) glad your blogging again!

Oh I have never written an entry about how I stay in shape... mainly because I do not think that I am in shape LOL. Well, I know that I am still kind of small considering the amount of food that I eat, but I am definitely not as fit as I used to be when I ate really healthy and exercised a lot. Right now, I can honestly tell you that I am doing absolutely NOTHING to try to maintain my weight. I eat whenever I want to and I barely go to the gym... so I guess this is my most natural body shape. Maybe I'll write an entry about "how to stay fit" when I actually feel fit and am doing something good to my body again :p.

Anyway, I am actually not working at the moment and that is why I go out all the time these days. I just graduated in May and am busy job hunting at the moment! When I do get a job though, I don't think I'll have time to blog like this anymore. Also, thanks for the compliment about my photos, even though I do not think that they're good enough to sell! haha

@studbeltsanddiamonds@lovelyish -

Oooh oooops LOL. I did not know that I couldn't take pictures there because nobody caught me and I didn't notice a sign. I guess I was lucky. Anyway, those twister potato chip thingies are soooo good. I think it's the first year that they have that at the nightmarket! I'm going to keep on getting that every time from now on :p

You don't have OCD. Ever watch MTV's real life episodes "I have OCD" and you'll realize yours is nothing. Plus, most of it involves your cat so that doesn't really count because the cat is your child.

I miss the night markets in Taiwan... how's the job market in Vancouver?

Hello Ms. Mimi,
You made your site simple yet elegant. The music player and pictures are a nice touch. I see that you have a wide variety of interests and observations here!
I’m sending an important message to people about Jehovah God that is in the Bible: "On that day of judgment," says the LORD, "I will punish the leaders... and all those following pagan customs." (Zephaniah 1:8) (New Living Translation)

well you look super in shape =P that's kind of how I am too. I eat and eat and eat but never ever exercise. I really do want to tone up though. but really with all the delicious and mouthwateringly fatty looking food you eat all the time it's a wonder you look so amazing!

can you let us know what kind of makeup you buy? like foundation and concealer and mascara and such? how often do you wear fake eyelashes? i want to try them out, but I'm afraid i'll do it horribly wrong or buy bad ones and will look like spiders are crawling out of my eyes.

Btw I love it how you reply back to everyone's posts :) it makes us feel welcome and important. :)

sigh* Sometimes I imagine what it would be like if my cat's not here with me. And it's a sad sad thought... so sad that it brings tears to my eyes. I really wish that he could live forever! Anyway, the job market here is not that great as expected. A few of my friends have gotten laid off, and it's very difficult for me to find a job right now. I guess I graduated at the WRONG time. That's why I'm thinking of continuing my studies.

@Bible_Wisdom -

Thank you! =)

@PandaBrr -

Thank you! I use the translucent Presciptives Magic liquid powder as a foundation (it's a loose powder so it looks super natural and light), NARS Orgasm as a blush, Cover FX concealer for any blemishes, MAC for the lips, and the rest is usually drugstore brand stuff (e.g. Maybelline liquid liner/mascara, Revlon eyeshadows, etc). So I don't actually spend that much on makeup! :p As for the fake lashes, I wear them whenever there's a photo opportunity lol. I wear them when I go out for shopping/dinner, etc, but never to school. I just like the look of it, plus it actually takes me less time to put on the lashes than to make sure my mascara looks perfect on! If you're interested in trying them out, I'd recommend buying faux lashes from the Face Shop. They are cheap, last for a relatively long time and look very natural. That's what I'm using most of the time :)

If you haven't seen my tutorial on how to put on fake lashes, here it is: http://mimlefruits.xanga.com/694024487/foooooooood-and-faux-lashes-tutorial-3/

Hope it helps and let me know how it works out! :)
